Connecting Czech and German maker communities to share knowledge, build sustainable networks, and empower the next generation of creators.

Fab-Maker connects the Czech organization Make More with the German network Verbund Offener Werkstätten (VOW). Together, we are building a cross-border framework to professionalize makerspaces, empower communities, and advocate for the maker movement across Europe.
We're opening doors for everyone, transforming tech labs into the vibrant heart of the community.
We promote workshops as essential spaces for upskilling, hands-on innovation, and lifelong learning.
We build a resilient network to share expert know-how, professionalize management, and solve challenges together.
2025
Together, we are building a stronger and more resilient European maker network through study visits and workshops. These exchanges between Czech and German workshops serve as a "living lab" for sharing know-how on safety, funding, and community leadership.
2027
We are developing a practical guide to professionalize makerspaces, which will be available for download in 2027. This manual by makers, for makers, offers real-world solutions for governance, safety, and long-term sustainability.

2027
The project culminates in May 2027 with a final conference at Maker Faire Prague. We will present the Handbook and share the findings from our cross-border collaboration with the public. Join us to celebrate and explore the future of the maker movement together.
Coordinator
Make more is the driving force behind the maker movement in the Czech Republic and the organizer of the Maker Faire festivals. Through this project, Make more is strengthening the Czech Association of Open Workshops as a primary platform to support local makerspaces.

Partner
VOW is the umbrella association for open workshops in Germany, uniting over 500 spaces. They bring over a decade of experience in networking, lobbying for DIY culture, and managing liability and safety for open workshops.
This section serves as a growing record of our cross-border workshops, study visits, and the shared knowledge we gather on our way to professionalizing European makerspaces.
